notes for wednesday

Had a date night with Michelle last evening.. I promised Kate American money in her bank account to babysit for us... Went to Buchanan's restaurant last night, heard some great African acoustic music and had fried onion rings and buffalo chicken wings.. Here, you can't get a dozen for 5$, it's only two... No American portions here..

Michelle and I had a nice dinner and then went to Harry's bar for a night cap.. Harry's will be missed... There's no bar back home where rats freely roam around the bar like they do at Harry's..  You have to side step them on your way to the bathroom..

All is well here.  Prepping for departure.. Rabinah texted me yesterday to ask if I would like her to wash "a bag" on the porch. I wasn't sure what bag she was referring to, but it sounded like a good idea.. So I said yes.. When we got home from school, there were 16 suitcases, bags, hanging out in the sun drying... All of them clean as a whistle.  We put our luggage on the back porch the other day to get a count of our luggage.. I will totally miss Rabinah.. Her and the rest of the house crew have been great all year long. Ill have to go back home and wear non pressed shirts and pants, and really look like a slob.  We have been spoiled.

Michelle is busy with work and trying to take care of business at the hospital.  It is dress down day at school... the theme is very sports jerseys... so lots of soccer jerseys and rugby shirts being worn around campus.. We are sporting some red legs gear..

Took the kids to DAPP yesterday... It's an actual thrift store in Malawi.. It's actually really great.  i bought some golf shorts and a nice oxford shirt for 1$... see photo below.. Also included in photos are Maura and Frances' babies made from surgical gloves.. Yes, things have gotten a bit strange around here, but it keeps them busy.. Finally , the kids in the truck before departing for school. They have been fantastic all year..  Happy Wednesday folks..
