A banner day for the Eckerles!!!

A nice 24 hours .... I just returned from Kate's award ceremony and she received awards for being one of the top 3 students in her class(honor roll) and for being the best student in Algebra.... She didn't receive an award from her art teacher (simply because that would be too much)..  Maura received an award for being able to recite verses from memory.. there were three pages of verses she had to memorise and she was only allowed to make three mistakes... She was flawless.
Then last night, the three younger ones sang in a music program at the school.. Jude played a drum, Franny played the xylophone and Maura sang... They did great.

And then there is Michelle... Aside from being married to a really great guy, she does good work. And I think she's pretty good at what she does. But I am biased. As we were getting ready to sit down for the music program last night, she received an email that she was the recipient of another grant for 25,000$. This money will be used to continue her project here in Malawi or be used to start another project.. She'd never brag on herself, so that's my job.. Apparently there were several hundred people that applied and only a select few received the funding..  This is great news for her and means she will be coming back here many times as her work will continue here...  As they say, behind every great woman is an even better man..

I haven't received any accolades, money or certificates, but I am making a killer playlist on Spotify that I am very proud of .. I call it "college music"... That's because it is music we listened to when we were in college.. Pretty catchy eh??  Lots of R.E.M included on the list.

It has turned somewhat cold here in the morning.. You can officially see your breath in the morning.. Which makes for a very chilly mile swim each day.

Not much else to say... Except that when we returned from the music program last night, we were able to take in an American classic film.. It is called "Breakin'".. Not to be confused with "Breakin II Electric Boogaloo" ...  It's a beautiful love story about breakdancing ... I highly suggest it.  After the movie, we did a little 80's breakin ourselves .. Notice Maura's underpants over top of her sweatpants.. Obviously influenced by the 80's "Fame" look.  Hope all is well back home.
